Paid Experience for Your Next Career

Palmetto Goodwill proudly participates in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), a national employment program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. SCSEP provides free job training for seniors 55 plus in South Carolina through paid, community-based work experience, helping low-income older adults secure permanent employment.

What SCSEP Offers

As an SCSEP participant, you gain immediate access to our full suite of career development programs. We provide resources for career change programs for adults 50 and over through our Career Opportunity Centers (COC).

  • Paid, Subsidized Training: Participants receive paid, part-time training assignments (approx. 20 hours/week) at local non-profits and public agencies.
  • No-Cost Digital Training: Access Free Google Coursera certifications in high-demand fields like IT Support, Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity to modernize your skills.
  • Career Coaching: Dedicated access to Palmetto Goodwill Success Coaches for interview practice, resume development, and long-term career placement support.
  • Resource Connection: Assistance connecting you with vital resources such as SNAP2Work referrals and financial literacy planning.

Qualifications for Enrollment

Individuals must meet the following federal requirements to participate:

• Be at least 55 years old.

• Be currently unemployed.

• Have a family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty level (low-income bracket).

Goodwill® proudly participates in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), a national employment and training program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. A $22,129,747 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor provided 90 percent of the funding for Goodwill’s SCSEP programs in the program year 2025.
