When Diallo Faulk first entered the I‑CAN program, he was fighting to regain stability. He faced unstable housing, pressure from his parole officer, and the looming threat of being relocated out of state – a move that would have left him without support and at risk of returning to old environments. Even under that pressure, Diallo showed up committed to creating change.
Building Stability and Momentum
Diallo pushed through long hours and even took on a second job, often while visibly exhausted. His determination paid off: he secured stable housing and saved enough to apply for the HVAC program at Florence‑Darlington Technical College. Once he gained his footing, he shifted his focus to growth, leaving his second job to invest more fully in opportunities ahead.
Connecting with SNAP to Work
Referred by I‑CAN, Diallo joined Palmetto Goodwill’s SNAP to Work Career Navigation program. He completed every phase with consistency and drive, ultimately earning a position with Palmetto Goodwill through the Florence pilot program. Never one to stand still, he also enrolled in the Learn and Earn program to strengthen his skills while working.
A Clear Path Forward
Diallo’s long‑term vision is already taking shape. He begins the HVAC Technician program at Florence‑Darlington Technical College in March 2026, positioning himself for success in a high‑demand field. At the same time, he’s pursuing cross‑training at his Goodwill store, with hopes of advancing into a leadership role.
Determination Meets Opportunity
Diallo’s journey – from instability to employment and into a skilled‑trade career path – shows what’s possible when determination meets opportunity. He doesn’t just talk about wanting a better future. He walks the walk.
